Spirulina Farm in Action

When we launched the first spirulina farm in Zimbabwe, at the start of 2025, it wasn’t just about introducing a crop. It was, and is, about investing in a system owned by the community and designed for sustained impact.

It’s not fast work. It’s not always easy. But it’s real – and it’s working.

Our climate-smart farm runs on solar power, recycled water, and empowers people at every step. So far, we’ve:

  • Created 40 contract jobs during construction
  • Educated 40+ students through on-site learning
  • Employed 5 full-time farm operators
  • Begun developing a course in partnership with Gwebi Agricultural College
  • And within one year, we’ll provide 200,000 5g servings of spirulina powder to the local community
  • Local ownership is what turns nutrition projects into lasting change. We’re not interested in quick wins – we’re building something that endures and decentralises systems.

This programme was made possible in partnership with The Cares Organization and a sustainability and impact donation from the National Christian Foundation (NCF). The spirulina farm is the first of its kind in Zimbabwe and is a hub of enterprise, nutrition and education.

Huge thanks to Kenneth Sharpe from WestProp Holdings whose vision, leadership and generosity helped make this all possible. And thank you Fayaz King, our E2G FOOD Ambassador in Zimbabwe, who helped bring this microfarm to life. Their dedication to community-led innovation continues to inspire us.
